McBurney point
McBurney's point is a specific spot on the lower right side of the abdomen, roughly one-third of the distance from the belly button to the top of the hip bone. It is clinically significant because it is often tender when someone has appendicitis, an inflammation of the appendix. Doctors use this point to help diagnose appendicitis, as pain or tenderness there suggests the inflamed appendix may be located nearby. However, not everyone with appendicitis has pain exactly at this point, so additional tests are usually needed for a definitive diagnosis.
