MBE (Multibeam Echosounder)

A Multibeam Echosounder (MBE) is a device used by marine scientists and engineers to map the seafloor. It sends out multiple sound beams simultaneously beneath a vessel, measuring how long it takes for the sound waves to bounce back from the bottom. This creates detailed, high-resolution 3D images of underwater terrain, including features like slopes, valleys, and underwater structures. MBE is essential for navigation, underwater construction, scientific research, and habitat mapping, providing accurate data about the underwater environment without needing to physically access challenging or deep areas.
