May-Britt Moser

May-Britt Moser is a Norwegian neuroscientist renowned for her research on how the brain creates spatial awareness and navigation. Along with her husband, Edvard I. Moser, she discovered "grid cells"—specialized neurons in the brain’s hippocampus and entorhinal cortex that form a coordinate system, allowing us to understand where we are in space. Their work has greatly advanced understanding of memory and navigation, earning them the 2014 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. Her findings are crucial for understanding brain functions related to learning, memory, and conditions like Alzheimer's disease.
