Maximum Medical Improvement (MMI)
Maximum Medical Improvement (MMI) is the point when a healthcare provider determines that a patient's condition has stabilized and is unlikely to improve further with additional treatment. At this stage, the patient’s condition has reached a level where no significant changes are expected, and they can return to their regular activities, possibly with some ongoing limitations or need for accommodations. MMI is an important milestone in workers’ compensation and insurance claims, as it helps determine ongoing needs, treatment plans, and the potential for compensation or disability benefits.
