MAVEN science objectives

NASA's MAVEN mission aims to study Mars' upper atmosphere and how it interacts with the solar wind. Its primary goal is to understand how Mars lost much of its original atmosphere and water over time. By analyzing solar particles, magnetic fields, and atmospheric escape processes, MAVEN helps scientists learn how planetary environments evolve and why Mars transformed from a wetter, warmer world into the cold, dry planet we see today. This knowledge offers insights into planetary habitability and informs future exploration plans for Mars and other planets.
