Maudsley Method

The Maudsley Method, also known as Family-Based Treatment (FBT), is an approach for helping adolescents recover from anorexia nervosa. It involves parents actively supporting their child's weight restoration and emotional recovery by controlling eating and monitoring progress, rather than focusing on therapy at the start. The goal is to empower families to take an active role, gradually helping the teen regain weight and develop healthy habits, while eventually giving the adolescent independence as they recover. This method emphasizes collaboration, respecting the teen's individual needs, and aims to restore physical health and psychological well-being through family involvement.
