Maudslay, Alfred Perceval
Sir Alfred Perceval Maudslay was a pioneering British archaeologist and explorer in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He is best known for studying and documenting ancient Maya civilization sites in Central America, especially in what is now Belize and Guatemala. His meticulous work included detailed drawings, photographs, and descriptions that greatly increased understanding of Maya architecture and inscriptions. Maudslay’s efforts helped preserve knowledge of the Maya culture and laid the groundwork for future archaeological research in the region.
