Matthew Axelson

Matthew Axelson was a United States Navy SEAL who served with distinction during the War in Afghanistan. Born on June 2, 1980, he became a member of SEAL Team 10. Axelson is most notably remembered for his bravery during a 2005 mission to capture a Taliban leader in the Hindu Kush mountains, where he and his team were ambushed. Despite being outnumbered and outgunned, he fought valiantly to protect his comrades. Axelson died in the battle but was posthumously awarded the Navy Cross for his heroism, making him a symbol of courage and sacrifice in the military.
