Matrix Material
Matrix material is the continuous substance that surrounds and binds together the reinforcing components in a composite material, such as fibers or particles. It acts as a binder, transferring loads between the reinforcements and giving the composite its shape, strength, and durability. Common matrix materials include polymers (plastics), metals, and ceramics. Essentially, the matrix provides structural integrity and protects the reinforcing elements from environmental damage, enabling the composite to perform better than individual materials alone.
