Maternity Protection Convention (C183)
The Maternity Protection Convention (C183), established by the International Labour Organization (ILO), sets international standards for protecting the rights of pregnant women and new mothers in the workplace. It ensures they have access to paid maternity leave, health care, and non-discrimination. The convention advocates at least 14 weeks of maternity leave, providing job security and the right to return to work. Its goal is to promote the well-being of mothers and their children while balancing work responsibilities, supporting both family health and economic participation of women in society.
