Matabele War
The Matabele War (1893-1894) was a conflict in present-day Zimbabwe between the Matabele Kingdom and British colonizers. Tensions arose as British miners and settlers encroached on Matabele lands, disrupting their way of life. The war began when the Matabele revolted against colonial authorities, aiming to defend their independence. The conflict included several battles, with the British eventually responding with military force. The war resulted in British victory, leading to increased control over the region and the establishment of British South Africa Company rule, which paved the way for Zimbabwe's later colonial and independence history.
