Mastaba of Khentika

The Mastaba of Khentika is an ancient Egyptian tomb built for Khentika, a high-ranking official from around 2400 BCE. It is a rectangular, flat-roofed structure made of mudbrick or stone, serving as a burial site and a place for offerings to honor the deceased. The mastaba features decorated walls with inscriptions and scenes depicting Khentika's life and religious beliefs. Its purpose was to ensure Khentika’s safe passage to the afterlife and to demonstrate his status. Today, it provides valuable insights into Egyptian funerary practices and artistry during the Old Kingdom period.
