Massachusetts Provincial Congress

The Massachusetts Provincial Congress was a provisional governing body formed in 1774 by American colonists to coordinate resistance against British rule. As tensions grew over taxes and laws, colonists created this assembly to represent their interests and organize efforts toward independence. It operated outside of British colonial authority, making decisions on military defense, boycotts, and political action. The Congress played a key role in uniting the colonies and ultimately helped pave the way for the Revolutionary War and the creation of the United States.
