Massachusetts Health Care Reform

Massachusetts Health Care Reform, enacted in 2006, aimed to increase access to health insurance by requiring most residents to have coverage, either through employers, government programs, or individual plans. It established health insurance exchanges, expanded Medicaid, and mandated health coverage to reduce the number of uninsured. The law also included subsidies to make insurance more affordable and required insurers to cover preventive services. Its goal was to improve public health, reduce healthcare costs, and create a more equitable system by ensuring nearly everyone had access to necessary medical care.
