The Massachusetts Department of Children and Families (DCF) is a state agency responsible for protecting children from abuse and neglect. It evaluates reports of concern, provides support and services to families, and, when necessary, intervenes to ensure children's safety—sometimes through foster care or guardianship. DCF aims to promote safe, stable, and nurturing environments for children while working collaboratively with families and communities. Its work involves both safeguarding children’s well-being and supporting families to maintain or rebuild healthy relationships whenever possible.
