Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS)
The Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) is a series of standardized tests used to assess students’ proficiency in core subjects such as English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science. Administered annually, the results help ensure students meet state learning standards, inform curriculum improvements, and determine high school graduation eligibility. The MCAS is part of Massachusetts’s educational accountability system, intended to monitor student progress, identify areas needing support, and promote academic achievement across schools and districts.
