Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA)

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) is the public transit agency serving the Boston metropolitan area. It operates buses, commuter trains (known as the commuter rail), subway lines (including the Green, Orange, Blue, and Red Lines), and ferries. Established to provide affordable, reliable transportation, the MBTA connects residents and visitors to key neighborhoods, job centers, and regional destinations. It is one of the oldest and largest transit systems in the United States, continuously maintaining and expanding services to meet the mobility needs of the Boston area's growing population.
