Mary of Portugal

Mary of Portugal (1527–1545) was a Portuguese princess, daughter of King John III. She was betrothed to Philip II of Spain, uniting two important European royal families. Sadly, she died at a young age before her wedding, leaving her marriage unfulfilled. Her death had political significance, influencing alliances and royal succession in Portugal and Spain. Mary is remembered as a symbol of the close historical ties between these nations.
