Mary Lamb
Mary Lamb was a 19th-century English writer and the sister of the philosopher and economist William Lamb. She is best known for her collaboration with her brother on the book *Tales from Shakespeare*—a simplified retelling of Shakespeare's plays for young readers. Mary also struggled with mental health issues, which, in a tragic episode, led her to inflict harm on her mother, resulting in her commitment to a mental hospital for the rest of her life. Despite her personal challenges, her literary contributions have had a lasting impact on accessible Shakespearean education.
