MARSEC Levels

MARSEC Levels are security measures set by the U.S. Coast Guard to ensure the safety of maritime transportation. They indicate the current threat level and guide security protocols: Level 1 is the normal, baseline level with standard security measures; Level 2 increases security in response to a heightened threat, adding extra precautions; and Level 3 is the most restrictive, implemented when a serious threat is identified, involving maximum security measures. These levels help coordinate responses to protect ships, ports, and everyone involved from security risks.
