Marma people

The Marma people are an ethnic group primarily residing in the Chittagong Hill Tracts of southeastern Bangladesh and neighboring Myanmar. Known for their rich cultural heritage, they traditionally practice animism and Buddhism. They have distinct languages, dress, and customs that distinguish them from surrounding communities. The Marmas are skilled craftsmen, particularly in weaving and pottery, and maintain a strong connection to their ancestral traditions and natural environment. Despite modern influences, they continue to preserve their unique identity through language, ceremonies, and social structure, contributing to the diverse cultural mosaic of the region.
