Markup disputes
Markup disputes occur when there is disagreement over the added value or profit margin a seller claims on a product or service. For example, a supplier might say they initially sell an item at one price, then markup (add profit) when reselling it. If the buyer or other involved parties believe the markup is unfair, excessive, or not properly justified, a dispute arises. These disagreements often involve negotiation or legal review to determine whether the markup complies with contracts, industry standards, or legal regulations. Essentially, it’s a conflict over how much profit a seller is entitled to add beyond the original cost.
