Marjolin ulcer

Marjolin ulcer is a type of skin cancer that develops in areas of long-standing or healed skin wounds, scars, or burns. It usually takes years for this cancer to form after the original injury. The most common type is squamous cell carcinoma, which can grow and sometimes spread to other parts of the body. Although rare, Marjolin ulcers need medical attention because early detection and treatment improve outcomes. Regular check-ups of scarred or injured skin are important, especially if there are changes like a sore that won't heal, a lump, or any unusual growth.
