Maritime Entitlement

Maritime entitlement is the legal right of a country or vessel to use a specific portion of the sea for activities like fishing, navigation, or resource extraction. It defines which nation has jurisdiction over a particular maritime area, based on international agreements and laws, such as the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). Essentially, it determines a country's authority and rights in maritime zones, including territorial waters, exclusive economic zones (EEZs), and continental shelves, balancing national interests with other nations' rights while promoting safe and organized use of the seas.
