Mario Monti (Politician)

Mario Monti is an Italian economist and politician who served as Prime Minister of Italy from November 2011 to April 2013. He was appointed during the European debt crisis and led a technocratic government aimed at implementing economic reforms to stabilize Italy's finances. Monti is known for his efforts to reduce Italy's public debt and restore investor confidence. Before becoming Prime Minister, he held various academic roles and served as European Commissioner for Competition.
