MARINA trial

The MARINA trial was a scientific study that tested whether a drug called ranibizumab could help people with a severe eye condition called neovascular age-related macular degeneration (wet AMD). This condition causes abnormal blood vessel growth in the retina, leading to vision loss. The trial found that monthly injections of ranibizumab significantly improved or stabilized vision compared to no treatment. It demonstrated that regular treatment could help preserve sight, changing how this eye disease is managed. The results led to the widespread use of ranibizumab as a standard therapy for wet AMD.
