Marie Pahlavi

Marie Pahlavi was the wife of Mohammad Reza Shah, the last ruler of Iran, and served as the Shahbanu (Empress) of Iran. She was born in Sweden and married the Shah in 1951, becoming a prominent public figure involved in charitable work and social causes. As Empress, she aimed to promote Iranian culture and modernization efforts. Her role was primarily ceremonial, and she was known for her elegance and dedication to social issues. After the 1979 Iranian Revolution, which led to the Shah’s dethronement, she lived in exile, maintaining her involvement in cultural and charitable activities abroad.
