Marib Dam
The Marib Dam, located in Yemen, is an ancient, historical structure built around the 8th century BCE. Originally designed to collect and store water from seasonal rains, it enabled agricultural development in a region known for its arid climate. The dam played a crucial role in the prosperity of the ancient Kingdom of Sheba, allowing for irrigation and supporting trade. Over time, parts of the dam fell into disrepair, but efforts to restore it have been made to help manage water resources and support local communities amidst Yemen’s ongoing challenges with water scarcity and drought.
