Maria Stewart
Maria Stewart (1803–1879) was a pioneering African American orator and activist who passionately advocated for the rights of Black people and women. Known for her powerful speeches, she challenged racial and gender inequalities in the 19th century, at a time when such topics were often ignored or suppressed. Stewart used her voice to promote education, freedom, and justice, making her one of the first women in the United States to speak publicly about these issues. Her work inspired future generations in the fight for civil rights and social equality.
