Margaret Abbott
Margaret Abbott was an American golfer and the first woman athlete to compete in the Olympics, doing so in 1900 in Paris. She was known for her skill in golf, a sport that was still developing its place for women at the time. Despite her pioneering role, she was not officially recognized as an Olympic medalist initially, because her event wasn’t included in the official program. Abbott’s participation helped pave the way for women in sports and contributed to the growing acceptance of women athletes on the international stage.
