Marcia's Four Identity Statuses

Marcia's Four Identity Statuses describe how people develop their sense of self, based on their choices and commitments. "Identity diffusion" occurs when someone hasn't explored options or made commitments, feeling uncertain about who they are. "Moratorium" is when someone is actively exploring different roles or beliefs but hasn't committed yet. "Identity foreclosure" happens when a person adopts beliefs or roles without exploration, often accepting others' ideas. "Identity achievement" is reached when someone has explored options thoroughly and committed to a clear sense of who they are. These statuses reflect different stages of personal development and self-understanding.
