March Revolution
The March Revolution occurred in 1917 in Russia and marked the end of the Romanov dynasty’s rule. Amid widespread dissatisfaction with World War I, economic hardship, and political unrest, workers and soldiers protested in Petrograd (now St. Petersburg). These protests led to the abdication of Tsar Nicholas II, ending centuries of imperial rule. A provisional government was established to lead the country forward, but instability continued, eventually paving the way for the Bolshevik Revolution later that year. The March Revolution was a pivotal event that transitioned Russia from autocratic monarchy to a more temporary governing body, setting the stage for future revolutionary changes.
