Marburg Virus
Marburg virus is a highly infectious virus that causes severe illness in humans, leading to a disease known as Marburg virus disease. It belongs to the same family as the Ebola virus and is transmitted through direct contact with bodily fluids from infected individuals or animals, especially from fruit bats, which are considered the natural hosts. Symptoms often start suddenly and include fever, chills, headache, and muscle pain, progressing to bleeding and organ failure in severe cases. There is no specific treatment or vaccine, making prevention through careful monitoring and infection control crucial in outbreaks.
