Maratha War of Independence

The Maratha War of Independence (also known as the Maratha Revolt or Rotational War, 1802–1818) was a series of conflicts between the Maratha Empire and British East India Company forces. The Marathas aimed to preserve their autonomy and resist British expansion in India. Over nearly two decades, battles were fought across central India, with significant engagements like the Third Anglo-Maratha War culminating in the defeat of the Marathas. The war resulted in the consolidation of British control over most of India and marked the end of the Maratha Empire as a major power, paving the way for British dominance in the Indian subcontinent.
