Mao Tse-Tung (Mao Zedong)

Mao Tse-Tung, also known as Mao Zedong, was a Chinese revolutionary and founding leader of the People's Republic of China. He led the Communist Party from the 1930s until his death in 1976, shaping modern China's political and social landscape. Mao promoted ideas like land redistribution and social equality, but his policies—such as the Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution—also caused widespread social upheaval, economic hardship, and millions of deaths. He remains a controversial figure—viewed by some as a visionary leader who modernized China and by others as responsible for severe human suffering.
