Manuel Zelaya
Manuel Zelaya is a former Honduran politician who served as the President of Honduras from 2006 until his ousting in a coup in 2009. His presidency was marked by attempts to implement social reforms and increase welfare programs, which drew both support and opposition. Zelaya's efforts to hold a referendum aimed at extending presidential terms led to tensions with the military and political elites, culminating in his removal from office. After the coup, he lived in exile for several years but eventually returned to Honduras. His presidency remains a significant point of discussion in Central American politics.
