Manuel Marulanda (Tirofijo)

Manuel Marulanda, also known as Tirofijo, was a Colombian guerrilla leader and founder of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). Born in 1930, he dedicated his life to fighting against what he saw as government injustice and inequality, using armed resistance. Under his leadership, FARC became one of Latin America's most enduring insurgent groups, engaging in armed conflict and involved in drug trafficking and peace negotiations. Marulanda's strategic tactics made him a significant figure in Colombia's ongoing conflict, symbolizing a complex struggle rooted in social, political, and economic issues. He died in 2008.
