Manorial System
The Manorial System was a key socio-economic structure in medieval Europe, where the lord of a manor owned vast lands and ruled over the peasants or serfs living on them. Peasants worked the land in exchange for protection, housing, and a share of the produce. Manors were self-sufficient communities, with the lord providing justice and governance. This system established a clear social hierarchy and was central to feudalism, influencing agriculture, economy, and social relations during the Middle Ages. As trade and towns grew, the importance of the manorial system gradually diminished.
