Mangal Pandey (freedom fighter)

Mangal Pandey was an Indian soldier and a key figure in the fight for independence from British rule. Serving in the British Indian Army, he became known for his resistance against British policies, especially in 1857, during the first major uprising known as the Indian Rebellion or the First War of Independence. His defiance symbolized Indian unrest and inspired others to resist colonial dominance. Though his actions were part of a larger collective effort, Mangal Pandey is remembered as a national hero who fought to uphold Indian dignity and sovereignty.
