Mandibular Advancement Device (MAD)

A Mandibular Advancement Device (MAD) is a custom-made oral appliance worn during sleep to help manage sleep apnea and snoring. It works by gently moving the lower jaw forward, which helps keep the airway open. This reduces the chances of airway obstruction caused by relaxed throat muscles during sleep, allowing for smoother breathing. MADs are a non-invasive alternative to CPAP machines and are often recommended for mild to moderate sleep apnea. They are typically fitted by a dentist or sleep specialist and can improve sleep quality and daytime alertness.
