Mandeanism
Mandeanism is a Gnostic religion that originated in the Middle East, particularly among communities around the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. Its followers, known as Mandaeans, believe in a complex cosmology involving a divine realm and a series of spiritual beings. Central to their faith is the concept of knowledge (gnosis), which leads to spiritual enlightenment and salvation. Mandaeans practice rituals like baptism in rivers and hold John the Baptist as a significant figure. Their beliefs emphasize purity, the importance of water, and a dualistic view of the world, contrasting light and darkness.
