Mandan Tribe
The Mandan Tribe is a Native American group originally inhabiting the plains along the Missouri River in what is now North Dakota. Known for their complex, permanent villages and advanced earth lodge architecture, they practiced agriculture, growing corn, beans, and squash. Historically, they were skilled traders and had a rich cultural tradition, including elaborate ceremonies and artwork. The Mandan played a significant role in regional trade networks and maintained peaceful relations with neighboring tribes. Today, many Mandan descendants live on reservations or in communities, preserving their cultural heritage and ongoing traditions.
