Mamelukes

The Mamelukes were a group of warrior-slaves originally from regions like the Caucasus and East Africa, who gained power in Egypt and the Middle East between the 13th and 16th centuries. They were initially enslaved for military service but eventually became a ruling class, forming their own military and political systems. Despite their origins, Mamelukes were known for their disciplined, skilled armies and influential governance. They played a key role in resisting invading forces and maintaining regional stability until their decline in the early 16th century.
