Malpresentation
Malpresentation refers to a situation during childbirth where the baby is not positioned head-down in the uterus, which is ideal for delivery. Instead, the baby may be in a breech position (feet or buttocks first), transverse (lying sideways), or other non-ideal orientations. This positioning can make labor and delivery more complicated, potentially requiring medical interventions such as a cesarean section to ensure safety for both mother and baby. Malpresentation is usually identified during prenatal check-ups through ultrasound and helps healthcare providers plan the safest delivery method.
