Malaysian legal profession

The Malaysian legal profession primarily comprises lawyers known as advocates and solicitors who are licensed by the Bar Council. Advocates handle courtroom proceedings and litigation, representing clients in legal disputes, while solicitors offer legal advice, draft documents, and manage transactions outside court. The profession is regulated to ensure ethical standards, professionalism, and competence. To practice, individuals must complete legal education, undergo pupillage (training), and be called to the Bar. The legal system in Malaysia is based on common law, influenced by English law, with laws enacted by Parliament and interpretations made by courts.
