Malaysian law and politics

Malaysia's legal system is based on a mix of civil law, Islamic law, and customary laws, with the Federal Constitution serving as the highest legal authority. The country operates as a constitutional monarchy with a parliamentary democracy, where the King (Yang di-Pertuan Agong) acts as the ceremonial head of state, and the Prime Minister is the head of government. Parliament consists of two houses: the House of Representatives and the Senate. Politics is often influenced by political parties like UMNO and Pakatan Harapan, and issues such as ethnicity, religion, and economic development shape governance and policy decisions.
