Malayan Communist Party

The Malayan Communist Party (MCP), active primarily from the 1930s to the 1980s, was a Marxist-Leninist organization advocating for a communist revolution in Malaya (now Malaysia). It aimed to overthrow the government through armed struggle and establish a socialist society. The party played a central role in a complex insurgency known as the Malayan Emergency (1948–1960), which involved armed conflict with British colonial authorities and later the Malaysian government. After decades of conflict and negotiation, the MCP largely disbanded by the 1980s, with some members transitioning into political or social roles.
