Malaria rapid diagnostic tests (RDTs) are quick, easy-to-use tools that detect specific proteins from the malaria parasite in a person’s blood. A small blood sample is applied to the test strip, which then shows results within 15-20 minutes—either a line or symbol indicating malaria presence or no infection. RDTs provide a reliable way to diagnose malaria without microscopy or extensive lab equipment, enabling prompt treatment in clinics and remote settings.
