Majlis Raja-Raja

Majlis Raja-Raja, or the Conference of Rulers, is a constitutional assembly in Malaysia composed of the nine hereditary Malay rulers (sultans) and the governors of the other states. Established in 1948, it plays a vital role in advising the Malaysian government, particularly in matters concerning Islam, Malay customs, and the monarchy. The Majlis also participates in appointing the king (Yang di-Pertuan Agong), who serves as the ceremonial head of state. It represents the interests of the Malay royalty and serves to preserve the country's cultural heritage and traditions.
