Main Belt

The Main Belt is a region of space located between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter that contains a vast number of rocky objects called asteroids. These asteroids vary in size from tiny pebbles to hundreds of kilometers across. The belt is a remnant of leftover material from the formation of our solar system, prevented from forming a planet by the strong gravitational pull of Jupiter. It’s the most populated area of small bodies in our solar system, serving as a kind of cosmic debris field and a valuable source of information about the early days of planetary formation.
